Remodel

Our 1 hour photo lab is getting remodeled this summer because Target stores are now going to own them. They used to be leased to Kodak. Well, there is a sign up by the TSC that if you were interested to let the ETL-GS or ETL-HR know. Neither was working the last day I worked, so I had Renae leave a note for Lucy saying I was interested. I would still Guest Service hours, but I don't know if employees are going to be over there all the time, like Food Ave, or just certain shifts, like GS. I'm just really sick of cashiering right now, so this might be a fun way to switch things up.

So, I was told the following info about the new 1 hr. photo lab:

It will be closed for about a month as they remodel it. We won't have the 1 hour service available, but we will still offer send-out. That will be handled by none other than Guest Service.
-Yet another thing to do on top of the million things we already do. They better schedule more people in GS because there is going to be a LOT of traffic with people returning/bitching and people getting pictures. After a while it should slow down some as people realize we don't have one hour for the time being.

It will expand to a bigger place, so all pictures and whatnot will be handled there aka no send-out, all in-house processing.
-All of us are wondering how the photo lab is going to expand because there isn't much room for it to move out and over without getting in the way of guests. We were thinking that they would move the Portrait Studio into what is now called 'the bank' and 1 hour could have the old portrait studio to do its business.

Since it will be all in-house processing, Renae said there would be 2 people scheduled over there at a time.
-I think this would be cool, especially if you are working with a friend.

I'm still wondering what the hours will be for this place. I would think they would expand the hours, but it still wouldn't be the same time the store closes. That way I could get out of there at a decent hour. And during Christmas!? Closing is the last thing anyone wants to do. I'm also wondering about the pay. I wonder if they'll keep the starting over there at $7 or if they'll raise it because it's a specialist kind of area. Who knows?

And the cons:
I don't want to give up Guest Service.
-The photo lab will have its own Team Lead, so the scheduling won't be done by the head cashier. I just hope I can still do GS because that is my favorite part of the job. Absolute favorite.

I have no experience with this.
-I wonder if any is needed because I learn things quickly, and I'm sure I can excel at this just like my other tasks.

As you can see, I'm totally excited about this. I'm such a Target nerd that things like this do excite me. I love remodels, and getting new stuff. I can't wait!

P.S. Tomorrow is the one year anniversary of this blog! Be sure to check back tomorrow!

Yeah they just put the photo lab upgrade in at my store. It didn't take a full month. I've been working most of my shifts at guest service now, (its considered my primary area) and no, of course they did not schedule any extra people at GS during the photo transition time. They did not expand the actual area for our photo lab, but the middle section of it used to be open, and now it has stuff in it. All our people were fully trained wtih the equipment from somebody they brought in, so I don't think experience is an issue.

Closing DOES suck...Saturday I closed and we got out at 1am, and last night I closed and we got out just before 12m. Grrrr

I put in my 2 weeks notice. My last day is May 20, as stated on the notice. However, I got scheduled for May 21 (a closing shift no less) and I was told I'm responsible for working it. Grrr. My friend took it...she needs the $$. I'm trying to transfer though, because I'm moving.

As for your request for my favorite entry, I don't have time to go through your entries right now, but one of the ones that stands out was the "most memorable guests" or something like that.
