Still Here

Wow, it has been a while since I've posted, and I'm really not sure why I haven't. Too much happened since I've last posted so I'll try to go over the highlights.

Ok, so there was this rude couple. Well, they bought a swimsuit (2 pc.) and it rang up for more than it was listed on the tags. I told them I would change it, and as I was the guy went off on me saying that we were doing it intentionally. I told him no, that mistakes do happen, and all you need to do is bring it up to our attention. Well he was so fixed on it, and said he saw something on TV about a year ago that showed retailers intentionally marking up prices. Whatever. So I finish changing the prices, and since they wrote a check the same day, it offered them back a giftcard. The guy again went off on me saying he paid cash, and that's what he wants back. He also said that this was part of our scam. At this point I was very irritated, and ignored him, and called for the GSTL. I went and got his check out of the register, and when I came back the GSTL had fixed it, and gave them cash back. I don't know how, she didn't tell me. Well, I asked her if he was rude to her too, and of course he was. I almost freaked out on that guy, and I'm kinda wishing I did.

I dealt with this older woman the other day, and she wanted to return a fan. Well, right off the bat, she tells me that she bought it last summer. So I check to see if it was in our system, and surprisingly it was, so I tell her she has to exchange it for 1 item in hardware and blah blah blah. The old lady freaks out on me, grabs her fan, and storms out saying this is why she never shops at Target. Umm, you bought it a year ago, and still want us to do something? I could've turned her away at the point where she didn't have a receipt. People just don't realize we're trying to help them out.

Another woman came is with a few items and had a receipt for each, but they were VERY expired. So I tell her this and say I can still return the items, but they have been clearanced, and I could only give her that price. She also freaked out saying that she had her receipts. I told her we have a 90 day return policy and it shows when the receipt expires on the darn receipt. She plays dumb (I'm not sure if it was an act) and says no one told her. OPEN YOUR EYES AND READ!

But what really pissed me off was this incident. Shelley, the stupid domestics TL, came up to GS. It was 9:45 and I was behind the half-wall thing at Guest Service helping a TM get all of their returns into one cart. Well Shelley walks up to the counter, and starts going, "Psst, psst! Psst, psst!" I whip my head around the corner and told her, "I have a name." That is one of my biggest pet peeves. That is a rude way to get anyone's attention. Using my name, saying hello, or excuse me is fine, but making noises like I'm some barn animal is just plain rude. And this was the same TL who I've been calling the whole night to get her overflowing (understatement) cart of returns. And she didn't even take it with her then. And all she wanted was for me to defect something out. Leave it on the counter with a note, or put it in the SDEF bin. And yes, this is the same Team Lead who stood in front of my car one day because I "parked too close."

Well, I took this weekend off because we went to Canada to get trashed. It was really fun, but the US border patrol people are ASSHOLES! Oh well, it's also a "long" weekend in Canada, so of course they come down here. Our town is chock full of them. Ish.

And I don't have a cashier shift at all in the next 2 weeks, it's all GS! Woo hoo! I'm sure to load up on stories, especially because it's going to be back to school madness. Just fucking great!

I'm Back!

Wow! That was fun. It's nice to get out of the daily routine and go somewhere exciting.

Yep, we did some shopping, went to Estes Park (gorgeous!) and also went to Six Flags Elitch Gardens downtown, and also to WaterWorld. I'm still sunburned. It was the mid-nineties everyday with no humidity or bugs. I got to eat at heaven on Earth aka Sonic. Yum! I do love that place.

We saw so many Targets down there. It was interesting to go into them and see how they differed from ours. In one, the registry kiosks were 30 feet away from GS, and that would suck having to stop what you are doing and walk over there. My store the kiosks are only 5 feet away from GS. They were also in the middle of building a huge SuperTarget in Parker next to the interstate. I wonder if the regular Target in the town will shut down because it is only a few miles away. I guess I'll just have to see next year.

I was excited to get back on the way back, but now that I'm here I want to go back. Haha! I am excited to get back into the swing of things, but I'm sure that will change the moment I punch into work.

I have the day off today, but I get to work 6-close cashiering tomorrow. Is there a better 'welcome back' shift than that? Haha! Hopefully I'm I breaker or get to help in the photo lab.

Good thing is that I still have a paycheck to pick up from when we were gone. Score! Well I guess I better get my life back into work mode. Catch ya later!

Leaving

Well, tomorrow I'm going to Colorado for a week. Yes, it will be great not seeing several hundred Canadians.

In response to a previous comment, my friends and I are going to Castle Rock, Colorado. It's pretty much 10 miles south or so of Denver, but we are definitely hitting up WaterWorld, going to Estes Park, and going downtown. It should be fun.

I am in college, and I'm doing pre-pharmacy stuff right now, and hopefully in 2 years I'll be in the Pharmacy college. Yeah, I have a bit of school in front of me, but it'll be worth it when I finish.

Well, I'm not sure if I'll be able to update you during my trip, but I'll definitely give a run down when I get back. Everytime I seem to leave town for a week, when I come back there is always something new. Well, I hope everyone has a good week, and hopefully I will to. See ya in a week! ;-)

Jeez

Oh my fucking God, Monday was also SO slow. At 5, I went over to help the photo lab because they were way behind...again. I only had to hop over to Guest Service to help about 15 guests total. Then, at about 9:15 I just stayed at GS to do all the closing shit, and that only took me 15 minutes. Thank God I got to work in the photo lab, or else I would have been doing NOTHING. There was literally nothing to do in GS except stand there.

The photo lab needs crazy help. They are getting into a rut, and it's not going to be easy to get out of. When they get backed up, the say no more 1 hour processing, and that pisses people off. Then, if they decide to do it for next day, the pictures are rarely done by the time they come in the next day. They are not building a good customer base. They should have at least 2 people on at all times, and 3 during peak hours. I wouldn't even worry about hours because hours won't matter down the line if you don't have any damn customers.

I also had to help out the photo lab on Tuesday. I just processed film. it's the only thing I can do really well with confidence that I'm not fucking up pictures.

Wednesday I cashiered 8-12:30 on (big surprise) lane 30. It wasn't so bad because it was early in the day. I still can't fucking stand it though. And I even got a Visa. Haha. That brings me up to 4 this month I believe, and that's fucking excellent for me, and it's only the 7th. I got 12 total in June, and that also bewildered me. Most of them came from me being in GS, and people coming up and asking to apply. Oh darn, too bad they still count.

Well today I have a day off, so I'm going to enjoy the Hades-like weather. 88 degrees today...wow!

Tomorrow I took part of Karen's shift in GS so now I work 12-8:30 in GS. Hopefully I get to help the photo lab again. That is the best thing because I don't have to deal with their guests. I let them do that. I just process away, and they try to catch up. Haha, well I better get going.

I'll try to update this blog after tomorrow shift because I'll be going to Colorado for a week and a half, so don't cry, I will be back. Haha, just kidding. Well, have fun doing whatever it is you do.

SO Slow

Oh my god, it was SO boring yesterday. Normally we need 2-3 people on Sundays, but they could have gotten away with having a call button up there. There was barely anyone shopping. I was at Guest Service, and I just folded boxes for the photo lab. They are always so behind over there. They really need to pick up the pace or else people will slowly stop going there. It doesn't help that they do all the processing there. The Next Day service is really what fucks them up, they just keep getting those, so they try to process them, and then one guest can fuck it all up when they bring in 5+ rolls. Just last night someone turned in 12 rolls for Next Day after the photo lab was closed, so they couldn't even process them. The machine capacity is 10-12 rolls an hour, so that already takes up an hour that needed to get done doing others. Oh well. I think the photo lab should have 2 printing machines with at least 3 people working, then they could handle the traffic that our store gets.

Well, anyway today is the 4th, and it's TIME AND A HALF! I'll be making almost $12 an hour. Awesome! The only downside is it is probably going to be even more dead because everyone is out and about, and people will think we close early. When people asked how late we were open today, and I told them 10, it looked like they were shocked. It will be EXTREMELY boring tonight especially in the evening. And of course I'm by myself after 4:30, so I will have no one to talk to. Hopefully someone good is working in the photo lab, and I can help them out.

Well, Happy B-Day America, and everyone have a safe and happy 4th!

Augh!!!!!

Well, it's a 4 day Canadian weekend...yup, just great! My God, why don't you fucking spend Canada Day in Canada!? They have Monday off too, so they can piss all over our holiday. Christ.

Well, it has been quite interesting as of lately in Guest Service. I guess there is a fucking sign at the door that says please treat employees like shit. The one sign that they actually DO read. So many crabasses.

Today there was just a guy who got some XM satellite radio doohickey, and wanted to return it. Well, his receipt was expired and because it was over $75 we couldn't do anything without a valid receipt. He just kept bitching that he lived out of town, and blah blah blah...Guess what? We don't fucking care! You had 90 god damn days to return it, and don't think you can just mosy on in afterwards and get the world from us. It just isn't gonna happen. Shit, I should start stapling receipts to their asses, maybe then they would give a fuck.

Canadians galore. I swear, it looked like a bomb went off in our store. It was a mess. They are so fucking inconsiderate. Let's take a pair of shoes off the shelf, try them on, and leave them on the floor because my fat ass is too lazy to bend over and pick them up. Multiply that by 5 billion, and you'll get what our shoe department looked like. It always seems to happen on Canadian holidays too. Hmm...connection? I can't believe how sloppy these people are. I honestly want to see their homes. Then tear the shit out of them.

Maggie was talking about how she thought I was in a dry spot with me getting Target cards err..."REDcards." Except for the fact that I got 12 in June alone. Knowing me, that is fucking excellent. Considering I only got twelve TOTAL for Jan-Feb-Mar-Apr-May, 12 alone for June is pretty fucking awesome. And I got 2 today. It's SO much easier to get cards at Guest Service. Most of the time, people just come up and ask to apply. EASY CARD, and it gets the head cashier off my fucking back.

Well, I wasn't supposed to work tomorrow, but I took Sara's shift because I have no life. And it's only 11-5, not bad at all. So, it should be fun. Especially dealing with the Canadians that don't know how to use a fitting room. I swear they buy 12453474 pieces of clothing, go to their hotel, try them on, and return almost all of them because they didn't fit. TRY THEM ON HERE! Fuckin' idiots!

Well, I better go get my asshole sleep, it'll come in handy tomorrow. ;)

Tuesday, June 28, 2005

Wow...

And so I finished the 7 closing shifts. Holy fuck, let's not do that ever again.

Well, we did experience some not so fun guests, and hopefully I can remember most of them.

First off, there was this old Canadian guy, he comes up to GS, and starts bitching about how we are trying to rip him off. He asks what the exchange rate is and I tell him it was 76%. He then asks how can a $20 item be $29 in Canadian. Umm, that's the 76% exchange rate dumbass! He continued to rant about us "ripping him off" and I got sick of it, so I told him that I don't make the exchange rate. He said, "It's no wonder why Canadians don't come UP here." Yeah, last time I checked Canada was ABOVE the U.S. so you can't really come 'up' here. Idiot.

There was also this woman that came up to GS and was helped by Sara. She just walks up and says, "I need a scanner." Sara was like WTF and asked her for her print out. The woman gets all pissy and says, "I need to register. Can I do that here?" in a real bitchy tone. Sara basically freaked out on her, and told her she needs to start over on the kiosk, enter her info, and then we'll give her a scanner.

There was also another woman that freaked out because we wouldn't issue her a temporary card because she lost her other one. I don't even know what happened, but after she walked away we all burst out laughing.

Ah, that's all I can remember for now. Now, I'm gonna enjoy my day off.

Sunday, June 19, 2005

Err...

Well, Guest Service has been pretty tame compared to what I'm used to. There are barely any rude people, so that's good.

My next 7 shifts are ALL CLOSING! Yuck! That really fucking sucks. I'm going to have such a 'tude later on in the week when I'm sick of closing.

The photo lab opened yesterday, and I want to work over there so badly. It looks like so much fun. When I have downtime in GS, I just stare over there. It's such an easy job. The only tough parts are opening/closing and changing paper and other shit. Otherwise it's all straight forward.

Well I guess I better get ready for my first of SEVEN closing shifts. Ay fuckin' carumba!

Photo Lab Training

Well, after 2 8 hour days of training, I'm "done". I only quote that because that is the only time they gave me to learn over there. But, I have it down. All I need to know is how to handle things for breaks/lunches, and not too much about opening and closing, so as for me giving breaks/lunches over there, I'm ready.

The training was really fun, and the whole process is pretty simple. We have a 28 page "cheat sheet" that says word for word what we are supposed to do. We also have our very own trainer from Kodak this week so we all know we are doing things properly. And it's nice that he's not a total robot, he actually has a personality.

So it is pretty fun over there. I'm sure it will get hectic at times with all the people that come with film, but I only have to worry about breaks/lunches. Haha. Anyways, tomorrow I'm scheduled 2:30-9 at Guest Service, but I'm going in at noon to help process the team member photos that we did for free to practice.

So, long day for me tomorrow. Oh well, time flies in the photo lab.

Sunday, June 12, 2005

Well Then

The trip went well. The 2 story Target store was awesome. It had cart escalators, temporary check-outs, and a huge Food Ave. It was really fun.

I just got back from our "meeting". It was nothing major, it was just do we could all be on the same page. Even though it didn't clear up much. Oh well, at least we got paid.

Anywho, I found out that I DO get to get cross-trained over in the photo lab, so that's exciting. Lucy picked me, Sara, and Heidi from GS because she said we were "the core of Guest Service", which is good to hear. Lucy also told everyone today that us 3 are getting trained over there. That was uncomfortable, I didn't even look at anyone else because I didn't want my eyes burned out. They got rid of my cashier shifts so that I could train. Yeah! That's A-OK with me! So I have 2 training shifts on Wed and Thurs from 9-5 each day. I'm excited.

I also found out today that Angela is the 1 hour photo team lead. Yeah, the same Angela up at Guest Service that didn't know a damn thing. And I don't think she's even been at Target for a year. The thing that pisses me off is that they didn't give the old team lead over there the job. She knew everything about anything dealing with the photo lab. And to just flush her away for some dumbass that doesn't know shit about anything? That's the definition of Target. It's just what they do. It's gonna take some time before I can really accept her as a Team Lead. That will be very interesting.

I also checked my schedule for next week... Holy Fucking Cow! I have 40 hours consisting of 5 shifts, and they are ALL closing. ALL CLOSING! That's going to be a nightmare. The good thing is almost all of them are in Guest Service. Only 1 day is 2-6 GS, and then 6-close cashiering. All the other shifts are GS. So that will be nice. And I have to leave by 11 every night or else I'll hit overtime. YES! Hopefully we aren't there until 11 every night, but you know how things are.

So now I have 3 days off including today. Nice! Wednesday I'll be getting trained in at 1 hour, and I'm excited. I'm not so excited about Angela but I can tolerate her.

So it's been a week or so since the last time I posted and what a whirlwind it has been. Pure craziness.

Again, if you read this, leave a comment. Just say something, it would be nice to see how many people read this. Alrighty, have a good week. Mine should be interesting.

Monday

Yesterday wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. It was dead more towards the end of the night.

Well, all of the pictures from the photo lab are now over in Guest Service. Yeah, it's a fucking blast. There was this one bitch who totally flipped on me because I didn't know anything about the film. This is how it went:
Bitch: Can you see if my pictures came in?
Me: Sure, what's your last name?
Bitch: *********
So I search and can't find them.
Me: I don't see them in here.
Bitch: Well, I dropped them off a week ago.
Me: Well, they're not here.
Bitch: Do you know when they are coming in?
Me: No, they moved all the pictures over here, and didn't tell us anything about any of this. I don't know when they will be here.
Bitch: Does anyone here know anything? Isn't there a number you can call?
Me: They didn't tell us anything. I have no idea.
Then the bitch storms away.

Repeat that for a 8.5 hour shift and that was my Monday. Some people were understanding, but then others weren't. All we were told to do was give out pictures and take film for sendout, that's it. No one can answer any technical questions.

They are also extending out the wall in between the registry kiosks and the photo lab out a foot. So now the kiosks will be REALLY hard to see. We got a lot of questions about where they are when they were in plain sight, so now it's going to be even worse. Yikes.

They started tearing the old photo lab apart early, but did the major stuff starting at 9:30. So it was especially fun trying to get the GS shit done while they were in my way.

People also didn't read the sign that was right fucking in front of the photo lab. So they walked over to the clearly empty photo lab, and then bitching at me asking where their pictures were. Read the fucking sign. All of it. It says all pictures are at Guest Service. God, fucking morons. People don't like to read nowadays, and it's MY fault they didn't read.

Our stupid Guest Service meeting is this Sunday, and I still don't want to be in the same room as Lucy. God I fucking hate her.

Well today is a 4 hour cashier shift, and tomorrow is 8.5 cashiering. Fun fun fun! Then I have this weekend off because I'm going out of town to a actual big city where there is a 2 story Target. My inner Target nerd is jumping for joy.

Have a good rest of the week!

Just Great

So yesterday I asked about the meeting, and I guess we really are going over the policies. The head cashiers said they wanted to come up with skits to make us laugh. And I guess there will be donuts and juice, so it might not be that bad. I'm also expecting them to say some of us are cut from GS. Those 10+ cashiers that are coming in the same time as us? WILL be training in at Guest Service. Sharon said it was so we could have more people give breaks over there, and so I asked if they would get shifts over there. Of course, it IS Lucy. So pretty much this meeting will tell us we are getting our hours cut up there. They're not taking my hours without a fight. Fuck no! I want at least 2 GS shifts a week, and they better not be piddly 4 hours either.

They have always been threatening to cut our hours up there, but it never happened. Now it is. I'm so stressed to see what happens because I do not want to get booted out of GS. If I am, I may have to transfer to a different department, or even quit. There is no way in hell I'm going back to full time cashiering. No fucking way.

Another thing Sharon said is that basically we have to fight to work up there. Every shift we have they want us to be robots. This means always smiling, clean counters, no stray carts, returns are up to speed, and all this other random shit. At the end of the night, they want every single return out on the floor. The carts in GS HAVE to be empty or else we get yelled at. If the departments don't come up, WE have to put the shit away. Yeah, so no departments do come up because they know we have to do it anyway. Oh, and we can't be leaning in GS. I have a feeling if a guest complains, that will be the end of you in GS. They already told Heidi she wouldn't be up there anymore.

I don't understand what the fuck is going through Lucy's thick monkey skull. Why are we going over policies when you have shitloads of NEW people that don't know one fucking thing about any of our policies? She also picked people that haven't even been at Target for a year yet. It's not that I think they aren't ready, it's just you should have to work to get up there. Also the BRAND NEW 1 hour photo employees are getting trained in GS. They don't even know how to fucking cashier! You HAVE to be able to know what you are doing when you cashier before you even THINK about learning GS. Well, not for Lucy because she is a dumb fuck. Who gave her her goddamn degree? University of DUHHH!?

Thank fucking GOD I don't work today! Although I was asked to by everyone and their grandma. No thanks! Today is also the last day 1 hour photo will be running for 2 weeks. All people will be redirected to Guest Service. Just great! And on Monday I work 2:30-close in GS, and I'm by myself after 4:30. There is gonna be more traffic in GS, and only me to handle all of it. STRESSFUL! At least I don't work this next coming weekend. Augh! Kill me now.

A Week

Well, it's been a week since I posted. I've had a few shifts, but I don't remember anything major about any of them. They all kind of run together.

I found out more about 1 hour photo. It will close June 5th, and re-open June 18th. Yep, Target team members get their pics developed for free from the 12th-17th I think, so the new people can practice. That could be interesting.

Also, there is a GS meeting scheduled for the Sunday the 12th. What's it about? I have no idea. Kinda scares me a little because I have a feeling we are gonna get bitched out. I also have a feeling we might be training in new people too. Either way, it's gonna suck. I also saw some cashiers were scheduled to come in for the same time that we are meeting, so I wonder if we will be training. Yikes! I don't want anymore people up there. Stupid Lucy.

Well, today I work 2:30-8 in GS. Not so bad. At least I don't close.

Friday, May 27, 2005

A Nice Break

Well, I had 3 days off in a row, so that helped some. Krista called me, and wanted me to work 2:30-7:30 instead of 4-9. For some reason, I feel like something bad is about to go down. I just have a fishy feeling about the whole thing.

Another thing that I've heard through the grapevine is that Lucy wants to get 8 more people in Guest Service. But, not just for breaks, for shifts! I guess Maggie told Heidi that she would only get 1 shift a week up there if that. And she's been there longer than anyone. My feelings are is that most of the people are the photo lab getting cross-trained in Guest Service, then why aren't we getting cross-trained over there? Because she is favoring some? I think so. I can't deal with have only one GS shift a week. No, you're not gonna take that away from me. They know we all love it up there, and Lucy doesn't care about anyone but herself. So, if they dwindle me down to one GS shift a week, I'll either quit, or go to a new department. I may want to go to Food Ave because they have an awesome Team Lead, and I would get away from the head cashiers and Lucy.

Which brings me to Lucy. She is such an awful person. She could care less about anyone other than 'her friends.' Her thinking is that if you aren't a suck-up or overachiever, you mean shit to her. She thinks it's fair to have everyone and their mother up at GS? When has Target ever played fair? Wouldn't it be more fair to have the people that have been there the longest to be in GS? It's almost a reward for being with the company so long. I also think that too many different people in GS will fuck up the all around policies. With a few number of employees, we can all get it right, and say the same thing. Having too many people will be too inconsistent, and that's not good for guests either. Well, if Target wants to fuck themselves down the river, by all means, go right ahead. Just don't fuck with my shifts.

Well, yet another day...

I've never really thought about it, but "Same Shit Different Day" really does apply to Target.

Tuesday, May 24, 2005

Day 6

What a horrible day. Everything was going wrong and then some. This will be a long post.

For starters, I pulled into a "close" spot in the parking lot. I don't think it was that close, as I've parked closer. Well, Shelley (the domestics TL) was walking in, and she saw me, and decided to take matters into her own hands. She walked next to my driver-side door, and I was still in the car. She stood in front of my door so I couldn't open it all the way. She told me to go re-park because the close spots were for guests. I told her I didn't care, but she kept screeching that I re-park. She said, "Seriously, move your car. This is supposed to be guest parking." Again I told her that I wasn't moving my car, and I told her to get out of my way. She then asked, "Don't your legs work?" I told her they do, and managed to slip past her. Then, I went inside and punched in. What a fucking psycho! The thing is that we both weren't punched in. Shit, if Target isn't paying me, I'll park wherever I damn well please. I'd gladly punch it, and go re-park if that is what they want. But for Shelley to be the Target parking police is very unprofessional. Why don't you worry about yourself? I'm not hurting anyone by parking closer so fuck off! If she really wanted to do something about it, she could have went to my supervisor, although that would have been pathetic. They can't make me do anything while I'm off the clock, so I will park wherever I fucking want to. This only was the beginning of my bad day.

Sharon left at 4:30, as you all know, but it was really fucking busy. Who in their right mind schedules 1 person on a Canadian holiday? I definitely needed at least 1 other person there. I have never pushed back-up more in one shift than I did yesterday. Most people were decent, except for this Canadian couple...

Well, they had things that didn't ring up correctly, and so I returned them, and rebought them on the same transaction. Well the difference was $9.61 or something similar. Because they used coupons, the system was suggesting $4 back in cash, and $5.61 back on their card. They started bitching that they wanted the amount all back on the card, and I told them this wasn't possible. Somehow the Canadian retard woman thought that if she went and got the coupons, and brought them up to guest service that I would be able to give the amount back onto her card. I told her it doesn't work that way, but away she went. She came back with her coupons, and I told her again, her having the coupons didn't matter. So, she wanted to return everything on her receipt (or "bill" as the retards say) and rebuy it back with the correct prices. Thinking about it now, I should have called back and checked the prices because they were Canadian. Well, I had Krista do a Fix It Fast, and changed the prices that way. The lady bitched, "Get the coupons!" I yelled back that I already did, and had her sign the box again. Well, after that she said she told me she wanted to pay cash for the transaction. She NEVER mentioned that while I was helping her. I told her she never told me that, and she said, "I told you I wanted to pay cash for these, so you're going to have to void that one too." I told her she never told me anything about paying cash. Then she had to argue about the different total. She was bitching that I didn't adjust the prices, and I told her the difference was from her old total to the new total. She finally decided to leave it on the card, and left. GO FUCKING HOME YOU STUPID FUCKING CANADIANS!!! They think they are hot shit just because they are from Canada. That's not something to be proud of. Especially when you act like self-centered brats. Go Fuck Yourself Canada!

Karen was being a bitch yet again today. Sharon got 4 cards from being in Guest Service, and Karen got one, and Krista got one. Well, they were rubbing it in my face. I told them I never got anything for the cards I got Thurs-Fri-Sat, and Karen told me "We weren't doing anything, sorry" in the bitchiest tone ever. God I fucking hate her!

Then, apparently I got a complaint from a guest because of my attitude. What the fuck ever. The guest didn't say who it was, but said they returned a pair of shorts. So Krista came over and asked me if I returned a pair of shorts. I told her that I've returned a lot of things today, and don't remember everything. I told her it was probably me because I was going as quick as possible because I had to sort 2 full carts, call departments, had 2 baskets of defectives, and had registry returns all over the floor, and helping all the guests. I would have had less of an attitude if I had someone working with me. So, that also made me more mad. I think it's pathetic to complain about someone's attitude unless it's really bad. I said Hi and Have a nice day to EVERY SINGLE guest, and I know that for sure. The only thing I could think of that I did that could be interpreted as rude is when I pushed some diapers on the floor, to make room for their returns. Whatever, I don't care anymore.

My lunch and last break were 30 minutes late also. It was an all around bad day. I didn't have to do defectives because Rob came and did them.

Before Sharon left, she said there couldn't be anything in the carts at the end of the night. I asked her, "So I have to stay up here and babysit the carts?" If people put shit at Guest Service, I have to put it away? No fucking way! So Krista told the salesfloor to bring up all their defectives at 9:30, and anything after that they had to put away themselves.

We were there until 11:15, and I had to zone the lanes. I didn't want to help the floor, so I took as long as possible. It sucked, and I hope to God I never have to work 6 days in a row again.

Day 5

It was still busy, but it wasn't that busy in Guest Service. For once, there was no really rude/stupid guests. We did have this one couple return over $600 of wedding gifts. It went relatively well because they had most of the gift receipts.

Well, I think that's about all the info for that day, but I'm just worried about today. Sharon works 8-4:30, and I work 2:30-11. So, from 4:30 on, I'm going to be by myself. I don't think it should be that bad (hopefully!) because I think the Canucks will start to head back later in the day. I also haven't closed on a Monday in at least 9 months. I hate doing the 'media.' I just hope I get all my breaks on time, and that I'll be able to take back defectives before the store closes. Here goes nothing!

Day 4

HOLY SHIT! It was so unbelievably busy because of all the Canadians. It hasn't been this busy since Christmas. It overshadows ANY other busy day since then. It's because of stupid Victoria day on Monday, so they get the day off. What better thing to do than fuck up the American stores?

Closing was awful. Every department was trashed, and had at least 2 carts of returns at the end of the night. People couldn't zone because whatever they did zone got trashed right after they did it. We stayed until 12:15 am and we still weren't done. We only finished the zones for all departments, and left the returns for the next day. Shoes was horrible! Another team member that has been working there for 4 years said she has never seen shoes so trashed. There was at least 20 pairs of shoes on the floor in every aisle, and even the ones on the shelf were messed up too. It was so bad. Everyone was cursing Canadians. Oh sure we've had busy weekends where there was little to no Canadians, but cleaning up afterwards NEVER was this bad. They don't respect anything down here. They think they are so damn special just because they took a 2 hour trip down. Whoop-de-fuckin-do! I've seen people from farther. And then, they want to try on almost every god damn piece of clothing in the whole store. Since when don't you fucking know your size? I can understand a few things, but they grab tons of shit to try on, and only decide on 1 or 2 things. The fitting room said they even got this woman that wanted to try on underwear. Yeah, NO! Check your fucking underwear for the size! It can't be too different! Because just think, what if they did allow you to try on underwear, if it didn't fit, we can't resell it because your nastiness was in it. And we shouldn't have to take a loss like that just because you are retarded.

I was a breaker yesterday, and there was only 4 breakers for all of the breaks. Yeah, that's almost smart. When I got there, breaks were so far behind.

Yesterday was definitely stressful. Today will be the same because the Canadians that don't go to the fitting room buy loads of clothing, and return stuff that doesn't fit the next day. That's what the fucking fitting room is for. I just might tell them that today. I work 12:30-8 in Guest Service. I was originally supposed to cashier, but I switched with Melissa. Thank God! It would also help if Target turned on the fucking air conditioner. It was so damn humid, that if you even tried to walk quickly, you broke out into a sweat. And because I was running around doing random shit, I was sweating a lot. Well, today will be fun...hopefully. People that were in GS yesterday said they got a lot of the 'but I'm from Canada' excuses. Bring 'em on, because I'm not going to show any fucking sympathy. Tomorrow I work 2:30-close in Guest Service, and Sharon leaves at 4:30. So I will be by myself from 4:30-close on the busy ass Monday. That's Grrr-eat!

Days 2 & 3

Day 2 was Thursday, 2:30-6:30 in Guest Service. Not much happened because it was only a 4 hour shift. However, I did manage to get someone to sign up for a Target card, so the head cashiers can get off my back. Now I won't be put on "the list" of people who didn't get a card that month. But, when I was entering the card in, the Guest Service phone started ringing. Because I was in the middle of something, I chose no to answer it. Well, this woman walked up to the phone, stood next to it, and asked me, "Isn't there someone who can answer this!? It's probably important!" I told her I would get to it when I could. She turned around and yelled, "JESUS CHRIST!" And she walked away. Me and the photo lab girl laughed at her after she left. Thanks for telling me how to do my job.

Day 3 was Friday, 10-4 cashiering. I was a breaker so it went well. When it came time for 11am breaks, there was a lunch in Food Ave, a break on the lanes, and another break at 11:15 on the lanes. So, I asked the head cashier if there was someone that knew Food Ave better than me, so I could do the other breaks. Well, they told me to do the break, and that "they would take care of the 2 breaks." So, I got done with the lunch at 11:45, and went to check to see what breaks were next. The 11 and 11:15 were still there. They did not "take care" of them. I was pissed because one break was 45 minutes late, and the other was 30 minutes late. So I crossed both breaks off, and sent one, and stayed on the other's lane. I took care of it. I apologized to the cashiers, and blamed it on the head cashiers.

Today is 2:30-close cashiering. Yuck! This is gonna suck some major ass.

Day 1 of 6

Oh God, that was only the first shift. Please kill me now.

Well, to no one's surprise, I was on the green side, but even better I was on lane 31. Fun fun fun. It was an express lane, so it wasn't too bad, but it was still the green side. People with full carts looked at me expecting me to say they could come into my lane, but nope I didn't say a word. I felt kinda bad when every other lane was full but I was standing out, oh hell who am I kidding, no I don't!

It was 10 minutes before I was done that I decided to clean up the carts on the green side. Well, Krista walks by and asks me what time I was done. Being me, I answer, "Not soon enough." She yelled my name, and I told her in 10 minutes. She sent me home. Hehe! I guess it's better than the corner. LOL

I saw Lucy today, and she avoided me, so even more proof I'm not working over in the photo lab. I'm still pissed, and I'm sure I'll get even more pissed when I find out who else is over there because it will be someone who doesn't deserve it. That's the way Target plays. they are also training people in Guest Service, which is fine and dandy, until they start getting shifts over there. Every hour spent on a newbie is one less hour for me to be up there.

Another thing that pisses me off is that I still get reamed out for not getting Target cards. Do they realize they always put me on an express lane or send me to do another job? Rarely is there anyone who even get close to $100 on an express lane. I'm not going to ask everyone, it's stupid. Yeah, do you wanna save 3 cents off that candy bar? Gimme a fucking break!

Day 2 is today, and I work 2:30 - 6:30 in Guest Service. And I have to train someone in too. I'll be the only person there for my whole shift to help train this person. They better pick it up quick. There is just so much shit to go through that it would be nice to have another GSTM up there so I could fully train without worrying about every guest.

I'll keep you posted.

Target Plays Dirty

I'm sure the title is no surprise to anyone, but I have been recently lied to by the ETL-GS, or the 'main' boss for the front end. I saw Lucy on Sunday, and I asked her if she got my note that I was interested in 1 hour photo. Well, she said she had already hired 5 people, but was still deciding on 6 employees to cross-train over there for breaks. The way she said it I knew it wasn't going to be me, she just rolled the words out of her mouth like a robot. I also know she doesn't like me, so that wasn't going to help. But, Lucy told one of my friends THEY would get cross-trained over there. Ok, now I'm pissed. I'm not saying I'm more deserving then my friend, but I'm mad that Lucy is telling everyone who she has picked when she told me she was still deciding. When I asked her, it sounded like she had already made up her mind. Thanks.

The *only* bad thing about me is that yes, I can have a bad attitude at times, but it doesn't come from thin air. Usually my bad attitude comes from the way these people treat me. Always on the green side? Yes, it pisses me off. Why wouldn't it? When I'm in Guest Service I have the best attitude because that is my favorite place to work, and I only complain about bad guests. I may have a bad attitude sometimes, but I make up for it with my work ethic. I bust my ass at work. I am one of the best cashiers (speedwise), and I rarely have to deal with head cashiers because I know my shit. I know multiple departments in the store and I pick up things easily. I've worked in these departments: Cashier, Guest Service, Food Ave, Operator, Electronics, and Salesfloor.

Now I'm interested to see who Lucy has picked. I would pick people that have been there the longest. My friend has been there longer than me, so I'm ok with them working over there. What will really piss me off is if some newbie gets to cross-train over there. That's just not fair. Only time will tell. When the newbies get picked, it makes me feel like shit because it basically means that they are doing a better job than me. It's also like getting picked last for a kickball team in school. It hurts. The last thing that made me feel good was getting to work in Guest Service. Even then I had to fight for it. That was also 1.5 years ago. Since then, I haven't had anyone offer any position elsewhere because of the job I was doing. As it sits now, I'm hurt by getting lied to. I still had my hopes up when Lucy told me she was still deciding, but they were smashed when my friend told me they got picked. I don't like getting lied to. Well, I work tomorrow, and there is still a chance for her to say I got picked too. Otherwise, they ain't seen nothing yet.

Now as for other things that have been pissing me off. I'm never a breaker. Never. I think I have been a breaker 2-3 times since the day after Thanksgiving. Why does it piss me off? Because they schedule newer cashiers that don't know other departments as breakers. So when it comes time for a Guest Service, Food Ave, or Operator break, they come get me off my lane to go do it. How about you put me as a fucking breaker? I'm getting so fucking sick of Target. So now I'm going to bitch that I should get to be a breaker because I know the areas for breaks. If not, they shouldn't ask me to do breaks if I'm on a lane. Hell yeah, I want to get off my lane, but if this is the only way they are gonna learn, then so be it.

I've also gotten majorly chewed out almost every single day for not getting a Target card. Like it's my fault. I ask everyone possible at GS (because that's where I have been when getting bitched out) but people say no to me. Heidi can ask the same person and they will say yes. I'm just easier to say no to, and that's not something I can control. I haven't got a Target card this month, and only got one last month. I'm trying my best, but I still get reamed out.

I'm never good enough. Never. Every little perk I get, they make me feel guilty about it as though I don't deserve it. Maybe it is time to just let this job go because I've NEVER felt like a team 'member.' At least I certainly am not treated as one.

Well, tomorrow I start 6 days in a row. Great, that is just what I need right now. They even called me today to work. Umm...FUCK NO! I don't care if I'm the only person you need, I'm not coming in. This weekend is gonna suck because it's a major Canadian holiday. Just fucking great. Now I can get treated like shit by management AND guests.

Tonight I'm volunteering with Target to clean up our adopted road. There is only going to be 3 level ones, and the rest are team leads or LODs. They better give me a volunteer shirt. I need a new Target shirt.

Well, have a better rest of the week than I will. I'm sure this blog will hear all about it.
